OUR STORY

TRANSC3ND was born in a tormented period, in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic. As human contact became scarcer and, one after another, countries closed their national borders, an utopian and crazy idea sprouted. We wanted to open doors. We wanted to build bridges. We wanted to transcend. Go beyond, not only physical, but also linguistic, socio-economic and cultural borders.

Thus, our young bubbling brains have imagined an ambitious association, a platform giving life to our ideas. We aspire to facilitate communication between young people from border areas, starting with Strasbourg, the European capital par excellence, and its German neighbor Kehl.

In partnership with the Laboratory for Global Performance and Politics at Georgetown University, the Bureau des Arts de Sciences Po Strasbourg and the ARTUS (Théâtre universitaire de Strasbourg), we are embarking on this adventure to promote diversity and rebuild social ties and inclusion, undermined by the health crisis due to COVID-19.

We offer artistic workshops that will allow young people with fewer opportunities to meet with volunteers from Sciences Po Strasbourg and the Université de Strasbourg, thus promoting socio-cultural diversity.

If you are sensitive to our ideals, want to support or encourage us, please do not hesitate to join us or make a donation.

OUR PEDAGOGY

Our innovative pedagogy combines active listening, bodily energy and speech to allow young people to experience constant interaction between themselves, others and the environment in which they operate. It is also a matter of coming into contact, in a playful way, with a foreign language and in particular with the human being behind that language.

We advocate total freedom of expression during the workshop by encouraging and practicing translanguage, that is, the simultaneous and fluid combination of languages. This hybridization makes it possible to deconstruct the fixed barriers between languages and to develop adaptability and cooperation between linguistic systems, in a supportive atmosphere.

To facilitate understanding, echoing strategies are also used, emphasizing non-verbal elements such as gaze, gestures, tone, posture. By connecting the foreign language to familiar universes, networks of meaning that facilitate communication are created.
